This wonderful antique cast iron and brass bed started life in Britain!
The beautiful central casting on both the head and footboard is reminiscent of the Art Deco style. Other castings are floral or fruit tributes, adjacent
circles and perhaps a rose.
The vertical iron rods are wider in diameter than most beds and allow this iron bed to hold its own in any environment. It's strong, but delicate at
the same time.
Starting out as a double size bed (54") which was the largest size made at the turn of the last century, this bed has been stretched out to 60" and
the side rails have been lengthened to accommodate a modern day queen size mattress. The brass tubing that spans the head and footboards
is not antique. It is not lacquered and will patina over time.
The side rails and the cross supports running across the bottom of the headboard and footboard still have the original 'nubs' which secured the latticework
slats which held up the mattress. We are not able to use the metal slats of old, but we do provide cross supports on which your mattress foundation
or box spring sit on.
During the restoration process, the old lead paint was sandblasted off and replaced with a durable baked on lead free paint in a gloss antique white
