This is a lovely king size iron and brass bed. Simple styling lets it fit with contemporary residences, century homes and rustic cabins. This antique
iron bed will not overpower a room because it feels light and airy.
During the restoration process, this Victorian era metal bed had the old lead paint sandblasted off and replaced with a durable baked on lead free paint
in a gloss white finish. It has been stored in an unheated space for many years and this has resulted in some flaws in the gloss white powder
coat paint. We can touch these up or, if you prefer, this iron bedframe can be refinished in gloss white, gloss antique white or satin sheen
black for an additional $200. Other color choices are available for an supplemental fee.
This iron bed was handmade before the start of World War One. When the war started in 1914, production of cast iron beds dropped significantly because
iron was diverted for the war effort. After the war, metal beds were mass produced in aluminum, a much easier and lighter metal to work with.
King size beds did not become popular until the mid 20th century. This bed started out as a full size bed (54") which was the largest size made at
the turn of the last century and has been stretched out to 77.5" wide (slightly wider than the 76" standard.)
We supply a modern day king bedframe.
Headboard: 60"; Footboard: 36"; Width: 77.5; Drop: 7"
