This is a lovely antique cast iron headboard, light and airy, and sure to fit into any décor scheme. It would look wonderful in a contemporary setting,
and old cabin bedroom, a farmhouse or at the cottage.
At some time in the past, the footboard was lost or too damaged to be salvaged. The original side rail hitches were removed so that a modern day
bedframe could be used. This iron headboard bolts onto a standard bed frame (not included.) The side rails would sit 7" above the floor.
This iron bed was handmade before World War One. The start of the war meant that all iron was diverted towards the war effort. After the war,
similarly styled beds were mass produced on assembly lines and were constructed from aluminum a metal that was much lighter and easier to work with.
As part of the restoration, the old lead paint has been sandblasted off. Then a powder coat of high gloss white paint was baked on.
Headboard height is 58" and width is 54"
